Outlook Tips
Some tips and recommended preferences.
Mobile
To access the Settings page, click the Profile icon at the top left and then the ⚙️ gear icon at the bottom left of the flyout. Here are a few recommendations:
Prefer compact layouts?
Settings
-> Appearance
-> Density
-> [Roomy/Cozy/Compact]
Age for synced items in Outlook
Select the least amount that you need. Longer range -> more storage used on your device.
Replies
Tools
-> Settings
-> Mail
-> Replies and Forwards
-> Include and indent
[x] When replying to a message that is not in the inbox, save the reply to the same folder
Send message
[x] Commas can be used to separate multiple message recipients
Don't use AutoArchive
The Outlook "Auto Archive" feature is different from and not to be confused with another similar-sounding feature called "Exchange Online Archive".
It is recommended that you do not use the Auto Archive features within Outlook. If your mailbox is too large or you would simply like to archive mail to make your mailbox more manageable, speak to me about setting up the Exchange Online Archive instead.
Known Limitations
Features are not consistent across all platforms. Below are some known limitations of the different platforms.
Outlook for Windows
- Subscribed Room calendars sometimes show up under "Rooms" and sometimes under "Shared Calendars".
Outlook for Mac
- Public folders are not supported on New Outlook for Mac (Use Classic Outlook for Mac instead).
- Classic Outlook for Mac does not support giving aliases to subscribed public folders.
- Find Time / Scheduling Poll is not available on Outlook Mac
Outlook Mobile App
- Subfolerders in Groups are not visible, only top level folders.
